I'm Rupam, I'm from Kolkata and for the most part of life, I grew up with a heavy inclination towards math. The inclination still remained when I took up my bachelor's degree* and that was what led me to group theory and cryptography and eventually Ethereum. I got into LambdaClass' cryptography bootcamp and was able to learn about more advanced topics from there. With that knowledge and a few open source contributions to Reth I was able to break into Ethereum core development through the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship. There, I got the chance to contribute to Prysm for light client server side support which I completed in 6 months, resulting in Prysm having fully functional light client support now.

Later down the line I joined Spire Labs where I worked on some interesting engineering problems around rollups and transaction aggregation. Here I learnt a lot about good practices and in general other important software engineering principles to write clean and maintainable code along with interesting concepts like EIP-7702, MEV, etc.

Lately I've been going deep on machine learning and AI safety, working through the ARENA curriculum and rebuilding the fundamentals from scratch. I might infact love it here more because of the math behind it. The goal is to carry the same rigor from protocol engineering into ML systems.

Outside of this life, I occasionally play story driven video games and read up on astrophysics content. I am also a sucker for mountains and hope to visit all corners of the Himalayas atleast once in my life.

*If you are curious why I didn't go for a math degree, I tried my best to get into the best college for math in India but missed the cutoff marks by 4. Unfortunately for math in this country, it really is all or nothing, you either get into the best college or you are better off pursuing something else.
